It has been a great success... well, at least for myself. (Yea... I know, I might sound like I am blowing my own trumpet) BUT if you don't do it, who else is going to blow it for you? =)

Ever since I started writing on this blog in the year late 2008, life has never seem to be the same again for me. If you do follow, I bet you'll noticed that I've written almost about everything that happens in my life - from my thoughts, my accidents to appearing on radio show or simply means I rant a lot. Most of the time. Not until I bump into a few friends who I talked to recently.

After all these productivity talk, I think it is about time for me to move on to the next phase of life and do something about it before I miss out another wave of opportunity which I had already missed a few years ago. If you are lucky a chap, you might be able to bump into a few opportunities in life but the question is how many could I afford to miss it again? We will never know how many are there coming but I can assure it ain't many left as we AGED.

Having a though as such had forced me to look at life at a different perspective. I am actually working on a few new blogs pending to launch once it's up. I hope I could start the main blogs when year 2011 approached. Keep everyone posted once it's up and running.

Malaysian Nature Society (Sandakan)

Today, I just came back from a history in making event on a preview of the forming of Malaysian Nature Society in Sandakan - in short MNS. It shows that the Sandakan community do cares for the city, which we called the city of nature. I even met some old friends & make new one at the event. One of them is a person who has indirectly taught me a lesson on passion. He is also the person who initiated the idea to create such a society in Sandakan & am proud to have known such a passionate person which cares not only for the nature but the community of Sandakan as a whole. Keep it up Charles!!

The Malaysian Nature Society (Sandakan Branch) is on the move to form his new team and in no time projects after projects will be initiated for the benefits of everyone from near & afar especially for Sandakan. Attended a preview on http://www.derricchew.com and I found that I have found something that I would like to do as a passion and as a long term hobby. I highly recommend everyone to take a look at his preview and who knows what might come out, out of the preview. The catch is.... there is no catch at all. Its F.O.C.!!! All he need is your time (3 hour) and your attention & I believe you can gain some insight about making USD$ via the Internet if not all, maybe a sip of the coffee cup could make a whole lot of difference. Hi everyone, as we step into the month of December 2010.

It's that time again where snows are replaced by rain, evergreen tree is replaced by plastic cone look a like tree, and colorful present is replaced with empty wrapped box which will end up under the cone alike tree is here again. (well, that's what happen in my hometown... on a typical local home)

What's Christmas to you all? Is it the present? Is it the Snow? Is it the fellowship? Is it going to church like everyone else? Is it going to pub and drink like there is no tomorrow?

My 1st Blog Book

YES!!! I am a dummy when it comes to blogging... many years ago. Although not as clever just yet but this is a good book to those who wanted or dream of one day to explore this new activity / job / journal / whateveryouwantedtocalledit. I got started off pretty dumb because I just simply open any account after account on various web-based hosting site and eventually I landed back to where I started which is blogger.com You can read more on this HERE.

Anyway... let me just get to the point first. Recently I just bought myself another book on blogging called Problogger by Darren Rowse & Chris Garrett. After reading 144 pages from it - my perspective about blogging & it's future had changed dramatically. Apart from that too, ideas that my friends once told me on what can I do can actually turned into something very professional had really had me seat back and think and this is the reason why I am going to embark on a new profession soon via blogging of course but let's keep it a secret for a while until I had draft out the whole idea. At this moment, all the ideas are flowing here & there. What I need to do now is grab them and put them in order - is like solving a 1000pc puzzle in 15 minute. (Am not God la...)

is a Blocks of Blogs

To be frank, I am not so a humor guy like ahbing.com or kennysia.com but someday I hope I can write like them. The world is full of serious stuff and bloggers like them can help ease our tension by writing craps with substance. Well, that's how I feel about life & blog. When all things are black and white, we can see no fun to it but at the same time we don't have to become a clown to get everyone attention. Just as I mentioned, write enough craps with substance and the world is yours.

Apart from that, I realized that I need to learn some photoshop skills cause merely taking picture & get it posted will get me no where far. BUT, once it's all tweaked & wrapped with sugar, honey & everything nice... I bet even the birds can be lured to come down from the tree (Read it with a Cantonese mind set) - 树上雀仔都“tam" 到落来. (ui... Shane can write Chinese one meh?)

Don't be surprise with the Chinese wordings. I know those who knows me well, can tell that I can't write or even read apart from my own name. I get a friend help la... of course... haiya you ah...

As in year 2008, 2009, & 2010. I have changed my blog title from "Shane's New Chapter" in 2008, "Make Things Happen" in 2009 to "Make a Difference" in 2010. The reason for these changes are to remind me of the things I needed to do & not to off track too easily.

As you can see, is end of the year again, sooner or later you will see new theme coming as well. However, the main reason that I wanted to blog on this article is not about the changes of theme but is because I wanted to make it a point that I will be working on a new project soon which will be closely related to the industry of blogging and what I fond on. Till then... Let's keep our finger crossed on my new project. Jana...

There is a member in the Toastmasters club who was once famous for his humor speech and acts told us that he has lost his skills in it the birth of the new born baby in the family. We all thought that he was joking but after giving it a second thought... he has a point too.

You might asked, why do I think so? (since I am not a father to any child yet)

Here is some of the why(s):-

1. I have lesser smile this year after I took up more responsibility in life such as the presidency post & the vice president post for two NGOs.

2. Faced with many new obstacle in life, such as a change of job & holding of medium to huge size projects.

3. I don't have the laugh factor towards my silly mistakes.

Well, that's me in 2010!!

Things.... I believe have started to change because I realized that I began to laugh at myself for no reason (I'm not psycho yet) and topics for my Toastmasters manual seem to be coming by quite easily for no apparent reason as well. Does that mean my sense of humor is coming back alive? I wonder... crossing finger

Will keep you all posted when I found myself smiling in front of the mirror.

debt is awesome?

Of course!... Not! (proclaimed by some) There are so many books out there that will teach us on how to eliminate debt and eventually debt free. I am sure many of us would like to experience a debt-free-day once in their lifetime; but as we all know, life is not a bed of roses and it will never will until we learn to take debt as a tool to help us in making more money and not to kill us. Debt is surely a double edged sword, is either it will make more money for you or bury us alive.

5 years ago, debt was initially a good friend of mine because I used it to get all the goody stuff I ever dreamed of and I can pay it off in one go whenever payday is here. However, today debt is no longer a good friend of mine but a teacher instead. Debt teaches me how to take control of my life and build up my maturity with money. Some of the hard earned lesson I got (and still learning) from it is:

1. How to become more patient with life

2. How to delay gratification

3. How to say NO! (to all those gadgets)

4. How to still smile on a rainy day

5. How to make jokes even I am in deep shit

6. How to discover skills I never thought I have

7. How to be not shy in asking silly questions &;

8. How to have found true friends along the path

Hm... after listing down how debt has actually taught me some of the important lesson about life, I think debt is after all an awesome tool to have &; like all tools, we must know how to use it wisely or else it will backfire to the user. As one of rich dad's fans, I urge all of us to pick up his book and read all about it. Till then, let's build a good friendship with debt.

What A Week! (or a month??)

My soul has just come back from two awesome convention, 1st on the list is the semi-annual convention for Toastmasters (D87.Division K) in Tawau Sabah, which I had took up the role as a test speaker for the evaluation contest. While the 2nd convention is in Miri, Sarawak for the Junior Chamber International Malaysia.

I had learned a lot from these two convention. Let me start off with the Toastmasters; it was my 1st time to face such a huge crowd in the division level speaking on stage humorously. I thought I would just walk off the stage and cry.... luckily I did not. In fact I stayed too long that I did not really able to wrap up my speech nicely. Lesson learned. Do more rehearsal and improve from there. Plus point! Division K think I have a sense of humor... cool!

Next, is the JCI Malaysia convention. I'm able to grab a few awards from there and maintain the chapter's level as it is. To me, is not the awards that really important (to me la), is the experience and the people I meet that really is. I earned a few valuable friendship which is not easy to obtain because they are from peninsular. Treasure them!

So much so on the convention, what about you all? How's things doing lately or should I ask for the pass one month? (since we have not chat for that long)

As the topic implies, I have no intention to post any pictures just because I'm too lazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy. (actually... I have no interesting pictures for this purpose)

Well, I think many of you noticed that I have not been posting any article again... for the past few week. My excuse is, I was caught up with work and stuff like that. What else? is JCI and Toastmasters (but you can still catch up with me on facebook).

The reason why I come up; out of no where and started writing blog tonight is because TODAY, I learned a lesson or should I said something about myself which I think is extremely important for me to mark it down in my life so, I could remember and will be refresh in my memory whenever I needed it to motivate myself to do better in the future. Here it goes:-

As usual, I went to the Toastmasters meeting on 9 Sept 2010 at the usual place - "The Mark's Lodge" & as usual we have our regular agenda such as Table Topics & Speech Session. BUT what not so usual about that night is our regular supper which usually ranges from 6 to 10 members has shrink to 3 (maybe because everyone is on holiday mood) which is My Area K 2 Governor, Division Governor & myself. We went to Jesselton Cafe for a drink and did some chit chatting about the club's activities and other matter. While we are chatting about the Toastmasters affair... out of the blue, my Area Governor (AG) suddenly pop up a topic about me.

It is about my last speech (ACB 6) to be exact. To those of you who don't have a clue what is ACB stands for - Advanced Communicator Bronze which is the 2nd level of speech after you have completed the basic manual which is the Competent Communicator. Alright, back to the topic. Now, my AG told me that somebody told him that... (after hearing my ACB 6)

First, I have reached a level where I have a good body language

Second, I have a good flow of ideas in my speech &

Third, I have everything a speech required except the "ohmp factor" which is where we can create the "aha" moment for the audience.

To be frank, at first, when I listen to AG, I was resistant to what he has to said when he started to share on the third comment but upon hearing and giving it a second thought - what he said is quite true because when I flashed back to my last presentation I noticed that I have NOT able to capture my audience's attention that good anymore and my sense of humor seem to be getting lesser and lesser. If I choose to point finger to, I would have pointed at myself because ever since I took up the presidential post in JCI, I have some hard time laughing at myself anymore because all my previous humor speeches are based on my experience and maybe... just maybe I don't have that kind of fun experience anymore as before while standing in as the president for the chapter. A position or a status do changed the emotion and characteristic of a person, & the longer we hold onto it the more influence it will create to that person.

Upon hearing AG's comment on my last speech, I think I really need to go back to the basic and start polishing my skills in my next 4 speeches before I take on the title ACB. To me the rank is just a name unless we have proven ourself that we really earned it and it is an honor to be granted as such.

I hope with this article I would be able to learn something about it & improve my speech better so I could advance to the next level (I am referring to speech contest) from Club to Area Level will be my 1st aim. Nope, you will see no picture on this post. I just wanted to express how I feel about this new hobby of mine (erm... is like a few months old) but anyway, I still considered myself very very Greeeen... in this field.

Recently, I took quite a bit of pictures using my trusty Canon G11, on Auto mode that is. Like I said, I am still green. However, the pictures turned out to be nice & to my satisfaction. I have been wanted to start a new blog about my home town & learn more about it. Well, given I have this camera with me. I don't think I have more excuse not to do so. I think I will start doing research about my home town after October 2010.

Why Oct? because I have some unfinished business that I need handle which is one of my NGO, JCI. I need hand down my post to my ext successor in a few months time before I can step down in a piece of mind. While waiting the time to come, I shall start with some basic ground work like designing the blog la, research la, study la, reading la, library also and etc. Well, I think that's alllll...... for now. Ubuntu 10.04

This is the logo for Ubuntu, a new OS (Operating System) - to me. a system which run based on Linux. At first I was skeptical about using a free ware or they term it as open source. All these while I thought using software like these is only meant for people who has challenges at purchasing software like Windows, Microsoft Office, Mac OS, and etc.

However, after I did some study on these software, I come to find out that not many of us fancy on using it because they are not as user friendly as those purchased software. I have to admit but come to think of it, I realized I learn more stuff when using it (yes, I am a Ubuntu user now after using Windows for 10 plus years) like the language of computer which I have no knowledge on & suddenly I feel like back to secondary now.

Anyway, that's all about it for now. I am still learning how to play around with Ubuntu now... version 10.04. Some of you might still remember I wanted to get myself a Mac, but after trying Ubuntu, it actually operate kinda of like Apple too. So, my suggestion to all is if you wanted to test drive how is it like using an apple, why not give Ubuntu a chance as it could act as one of the alternative for you to try out how the system works before you jump into Mac permanently for FREE!!! =)

Sharing Session

Had a nice chat tonight after my Board of Director Meeting for JCI. Spend some nice quite time to have a personal chat with my immediate Past President, we shared our experience and talked about stuff like what happen & what's the next step for next year... stuff like that.

Right after that, I feel like there is a bulb above my head lights up and some ideas about the chapter comes into my mind but I won't talk about it for now until the time has come for that. Anyway, it was a good night & a great conversation to call it a day.

Sharing is good when you talk to experienced person because ideas can be exchange and we will have a good laugh on the mistaken and action we took just to reach the point we wanted to. It is indeed a life changing point to be IN JCI. Looking forward to create a master piece out from JCI.

Emcee-ing my 1st!

I have been giving speeches and emceeing for a few function for quite sometime now but this one event is what I think "hard to be forgotten" because of how the entrance of emcee was being make. Just take a look at the picture below, I was on that trolley while I was being pushed in by my co-emcee who is a SHE!!! is not easy for a girl to push a guy... but it was a great experience indeed.

Being a Toastmasters not only am I exposed to these role but being an emcee in a Toastmasters function is even more challenging because most of the audience is a Toastmasters Member, and a Toastmasters we are being taught to evaluate speakers or who ever is standing in front giving a speech. So, as expected we got so many evaluation from everyone...from table one to the very last, which is awesome cause we learn some new from every individual!

10 July, 2010 will be the day I am going remember forever for as long as I live... My 1st Radio recording @ Sabah V FM. I was so excited with the whole event & a bit of nervous as well. To tell you the truth, I'm used with on stage holding a mic and walking around... but this recording required me to seat down and virtually not holding anything while speaking. Scary~ but luckily is all over & I'm glad with such experience. It was an awesome feeling...

It was only yesterday that I talked about the things I never realized and a few hours ago I bumped into something similar - which is a book that I got from a dear friend of mine like 2 years ago somewhat reappeared before my eyes and it was actually written by one of my favourite speaker from the Toastmasters International but I didn't realized that it was him until a few hours ago. What a life!?

Lesson Learnt: Pay attention to the little things that bump into your life because you never know when it will become so valuable to you. It might looked simple today but it might turn into a Gold Mine in a matter of hours, days or even months. Therefore treasure them and life will have his own way of coming back to you in a great way.

I think I have been blogging ever since I started reading one of my friend's blog in 2008 and up till to date that passion is still there and it was this habit of mine that helped me to have more ideas about projects and somewhat leaded me to where I am today.

As I was having a chat with one of friend today, I come to realised that my passion to become a professional emcee, trainer and speaker has grow even more that ever. I never though a timid guy like me would dream or even dare giving a thought of becoming one. This new ideal career of mine was found when I have completed my competent communication manual from the Toastmasters International. I thought it was just a simple thought until I had this chat with my friend, am now thinking of a way to improve and market myself as a professional emcee-trainer-speaker.

Well, I think that's all for today... Just wanted to share what's happening on my mind... if you feel like I am bullshitting over here, please don't mind at all... Good Day to all!

The Junks

Recently there was a book fair selling old junks at Sandakan community hall by dawama.com. At first glance I thought who would buy old junks like this? Those books are as old as my grandma...

As the saying goes, don't judge a book by it's cover and for this reason I forced myself to pick them up and glance through it one by one and you know what... these junks are actually evergreen material. No wonder it's still on sell at a bargain of course up to 60% discount for books which is more than 10 years plus.

However, I am not interested in books sold over there but what catches my attention is the magazine section selling at RM1 each. Oh My God! That's my reaction...

I know, is hard to believe until I looked at the date, and it was only 2 years back and the stories covered is evergreen stuff, I am referring to those topics that I am interested in of course: language, blogging, economy (1997-98 crisis). You might asked, since when I started going into language? Well, since when I started blogging and after reading these magazine which I got last week, the author has actually pin pointed some of the element which caught my attention and give my a second thought of how should I run my blog such as how design, marketing it, and especially the language usage.

Oh... I think I missed out the explanation on economy... just because of my thesis, I bought it for fun... neh... to further enhance my knowledge on the topic which I had conducted study on during my University days. Well, I think I will start working on my blog soon right after my presidential year as JCI Sandakan President... till then chat again soon.

Reflection

"when the going gets tough, the tough gets going"

How many of us do give it a thought about what life is all about? A drama? A joke? Lonesome? No matter what life throw at us, I am sure each one of us has the ability to overturn it and a lesson will appear IF only we give it a chance to learn from it.

I believe every path in life there will be no such thing as smooth sailing but smooth learning. Today, I realized that there is so much things in life I haven't accomplished yet which I suppose to have done many years back. Time couldn't be turn back and the only thing I can, is make use of what I had now and maximize it. Hm... said is easier than done.

Let's stop and ponder on this, let's say your family, your loved one and your most important inspiration matter in life was taken away from you side. What would you do then? At first I thought I would choose to end my life and that's the end of the story but after given a second thought on it, Nick's quote come into my mind. He said: "live life with a purpose, for with purpose comes meaning and for there is meaning in life comes hope"

If not for that quote, I think I would have ended my life just like and face God for the judgement for ending my life with no reason if given such scenario. Thank you Nick Vujicic for his wonderful story about life and how a man like him has changed everyone view upon life.

I shall live, I shall move on, I shall make life a legacy that everyone will remember for as long as they live. (a good example story to tell of course).... Woah.. so much about life... I think many of you thought I must be crazy to have such a thought especially to those who knows me in person. Well, I was actually thinking what and where should I go during this long holiday at the end of the month of May and "give a life a reflection" comes into my mind. I hope I did not scare the pants off you... if I did, then I'm really sorry about that. Till then Happy Holiday & Happy Harvest!

Just when I stopped to ponder what I did for the past few weeks, I realized that I have been trying too hard to learn so many things at the same time... and nothing accomplished yet. Why is this happening? Is it true that guys cannot focus on so many things at the same time? Hmm... so is it just me.

You might be wondering what is this title got to do with this post? Well, I am trying to learn how to sing Air Supply's songs... Yeah! you heard that right... I am learning how to sing and all thanks to my friend who has started my burning desire to sing their songs... and one of my favourite is the "now & forever" ...Now guys.. don't expect me to sing that in the pub yet... I can't even catch the tune yet... Then comes the MC... yes, MC = Emcee! I am planning to attend a course on this. Plan to become a pro emcee one day.... weird idea? My interest, that's all I can say.

Leader... what else is JCI and Toastmasters... am not everything, am trying to improve my status quo and be a good citizen of the world...

As human, we have minds of our own and most of the time it was influenced by the human emotion when it come to picking the right colour for our outfit, placing an order, buying a car, or whatever that decision is. No matter how rational the mind is, I believe the emotional part of human sometimes might over take the rational mind when the right words and right timing is in place. What do you think? Hmm...

Anyway, am learning how to improve my EQ... hahaha...

As some of you've known. I have been searching for that one camera to enhance my blog and before that I was only using my samsung's phone camera and my girlfriend's camera (previous blog post: http://shanehtw.blogspot.com/2008/11/3-tools.html)

Finally, my Canon Powershot G11 is here!!!!! I shall lay my hands on it tomorrow at 8AM. I shall post more about this after I got it for REAL!!!

I just done reading an article from Sandakan Toastmasters Club. It was written by the self-proclaim "Oversea Buddha", his articles always caught my attention so as this. Actually I was having a dilemma should I go for the speech contest or shouldn't I go for it during the Area Sabah Convention. It was hosted by my chapter and the judges was from Sandakan. will it be unfair if I go in and compete?

Is like gambling your life over this matter. Some said I should go, some said I shouldn't. In Chinese I am totally "15-16", it means I'm in dilemma. Just like the question, to be OR not to be? (I kinda hate this question) what question is it without an answer.

Well, I shall see what God has install for me for this coming week and I shall see if I would go and do it. Lord, I give it all to you to lead me . I pray for all this... Amen.

Since Jan, I have been busy concentrating on JCI Sandakan's activities because my aim is to promote the chapter to the Sandakan community to a greater height within a one year lead. Addition to that, our chapter has also successfully bid for the Area Sabah Convention (ASC) for this year. Based on track record, the chapter has never hosted any big event such as this since 2002. I think with such activities in place, I believe JCI Sandakan will once again shine among others especially in Sandakan.

Sandakan is in need of potential leaders and more youngster to join in our effort to build up the community. I hope all the youngster will come out and come up no matter which NGO are they participating in the hope to build up Sandakan to whole better community with a difference flavour. Sandakan should not be labelled as a town only for the old and slow instead it should be a place where everyone has the better opportunity to grow and improve better than other big city in Sandakan.

Early Month Syndrome

What is this syndrome? I think this kind of syndrome only happens to me but... nah.... anyway, This month I will be wholly packed with functions like courtesy visits to past presidents, handling the TM's meeting, CNY visitation, hosting a speech contest... and... and... oh boy to much to be listed including those petty matters.

Well, is not s0 much of the activities that matters but how do I cope with it - here comes time management thingy and those you can trust kind of things come into place. This is not about going to give up kind of post. The purpose that I am writing this is to share with everyone that we all have our important matters to handle in life and is how you manage it that will make a difference in our life and create a huge impact on our future.

I heard many of them complained they don't have time or they don't know how to go about it & so they give up on something which is meaningful to them. I come across many of these situation and yet I still work my butt on all this matters because my passion is in it. I don't blame them but ... can't they at least try before they even give up? There is a saying that goes, if there is a will, there is a way. I don't quite remember when I started to believe in this but it was 1st mention by one of my favourite lecturer when I was in University days.

It's also clear that everyone has 24 hours a day but how come there is only a handful of 5% of us is successful in life given we all have an equal share of the time per day? I hope with this question, you will take a serious thought about it and think what make your life different than the rest of the 95% in the world? I am now working my butt to 5%, I hope you can too and join me in this journey of being a five percent'er.

i am so happy that i have started my 1st official training hour after more than half a year graduated as JCI Trainer in KK (to those who still remember my trip there) being new in this line, there so much I have to learn and to improve on. Therefore, I have started the 1st hour with the easiest training course which is the New Members Orientation and at the same time being evaluated by my senior trainer... she also guided me as i do that. appreciate for her guidance.

there she goes... there she goes again... is not the song and i am not singing. i am referring to the week that just passed, the 1st week of 2010 has gone. how is everything for everyone? well, not pretty much for me but i am able to make a small gathering with some of the key person in my board for a lunch later at ultimate cafe to talk about the ideas and plan they had in mind.

as i keep repeating myself that this year is not for me to shine but for the board and the members because i only become worth of value if they become one as well. my task is to make sure that i dig out the best potential and talent that every member has within them and help them to outshine myself and therefore the chapter will shine in area Sabah if not JCI Malaysia. I pray that God will guide me and my board to reach at this level by bringing back the glory from the pass and become a better NGO in town. thank you God for your blessing.

1st Jan, 2010. Happy New Year to all my readers, friends, and family! If you have not noticed, I have changed my blog title to "make a difference" as I have mentioned earlier in my previous post that I will be changing it soon; this is also the theme that I am going to use on my presidential theme for this year by reaching all out and to impact the life's of everyone. Yes! That's the goal for this year to reach all out and to impact.

I hope twenty 10, will be an awesome year to all of us and will be a year that would define one of the greatest turning point in your life; with that in mind you will have a great story telling session with your children or your grandchildren of what you have contributed and impacted to the life's of everyone that walked or crossed your path. This is my last trip out of Sandakan and is also my first trip spending Christmas out of Sandakan. Although the trip was not a total holiday trip as I got a class to attend on 25th but it's all worth it, well let's cut the talking and start viewing huh...

Upperstar! one of my favourite place to hang around when I'm in KK and this is the Lintas Branch and this is the best among the three cause they have PC ready for customer to surf for free

This is the place I am staying... just next to 1Borneo... it's a budget hotel... there's a lot of complain about this hotel from friends but so far I am still happy with the service provided especially the one at Kuala Lumpur. I think the only difference that make Kuala Lumpur better is that the culture practiced is more hmm... well, you have to stay there to feel it.

This is not suppose to be the book I should be getting from Times but since I have fond in blogging and I would like to make it my future money making machine... why not invest in it? (well, that's what I had in mind that time) and you might say what an excuse... huh... on top of that is also for my income tax claim for this year... cause I have not utilized my limit yet and to give it back to the government is like a waste (that's our right wat...) hehe...

Oh well, that's all about it for my trip. In a few more days and it's going to be 2010! Have you all done with all the last minute resolution yet? I had mine in tact and I wish 2010 will be a year of making things difference for everyone as it is for me. You still have time, erm approximately like...3 days and counting to do that. is that time again... is Christmas... and some are on holiday mood all-ready, children are crying cause they did something bad this year and Santa might not be going to give them any present... what about you? Do you have a list of Christmas wish in hand too or is it just an ordinary day to you? As a christian this is the time where we are reminded of Jesus who come to earth to Save us.

well, to be frank I have not ready to start any post on this topic yet not until a friend of mine send me a personalized Christmas card on Facebook and triggered me to start on it and upon listening to Monica's Growth up Christmas list, all the more that I wanted to return a favour to her BUT not just because she send me this card but because I consider her a close friend of mine and I also learned something about her and her life along the path... which I think this song could send her a good message. so, I wish to dedicate this song to her with the hope that next year will be a great year for her and may her dreams and her Christmas list will be one step closer. (you know who you are, my dear friend in UK)

Apart from that, I also like to wish my readers, my friends, my great friends in the state - Christina, my Uni's friends, my relatives, my Baptist church's friends, my small group members, especially Eyen, Jessie, Fiona, Sing Yee, and Gino... my JCI friends, my Toastmasters friends, phew... so many to greet I know I am going to miss someone out but not her, my lovely girlfriend & my family. a little make up & its good to go

its heading towards the end of the year 2009, and it's also the time for my blog to do a little make up, i think i will only change the theme colour and the theme of the year and it's all to go to welcome 2010.

"make things happen" - sub tag: not a moment to miss, surely accompany me closely for the whole year round. i really enjoyed myself a lot throughout the year and it's truly a memorable year for me, as next year approaching near i shall welcome it with an open heart and an open hand for all the stuff and people that i'm going to meet and to work with to make 2010 a greater year for everyone. let's make 2010 a year of no regret! are you ready for it? i'm not sure if i ever truly ready for 2010 but i am prepared to face it because i have people that i trust to guide me and teach me along the way. are you ready to do that as well?

well, let's cut the talk short and start taking a little time off for our self before the clock struck 12am on 31 dec 2009 for a little review about 2009 and what are you going to do for 2010 to make it better and even more fruitful.

cursing is bad, cursing is a sin, cursing is relieving my anger... & is a tiring action. yesterday the car i usually drive to work got into a "hit and run" situation. my car was nicely parked within the yellow box at my working place and what happen is some damn a$% stupid driver while he or she is driving out from his parking slot next me, my car, it got hit on the driver's door and the one behind it. from the looks of it, i think it got hit by a big car.

How does these people got their licence? I doubt. How do their even just speed off without saying a word sorry or something? when i first saw my car in that state, i was so shocked and all i can do is started cursing that bloody driver who did it. my mind is all surrounded by bad words and sins. after all things have settle for that day, i got home with a tired mind and a tired body. i suppose to be getting tired from my yoga class that day but it ends up getting tired for an a$%h^l*. Life isn't fair isn't it, and is never fair. it took me a few hours to really calm down and take a look at the whole situation at a different angle.

soon after my feeling is all cool down, i have stopped cursing but i just wish the driver who did this will have good luck as my friend told me to just get over it cause what goes around comes around, yea, & i agree with her.. with a little add on, what's goes around comes around in a greater "power". i just wish the driver will not die of this statement but just barely live. (hiaz... the cursing moment comes again... forget about it). i bought this lesson at the cost of my dad's car, yet i am the one who is going to fork out the money for it plus the insurance. (of course)

in this situation, i learn a lot of stuff, such as technical stuff about reporting to police officer, like what to do and what not to do when an accident happen, cursing is bad and is tiring - not worth the effort, and even you are good, you follow the rules, and you don't create something bad yet things that are not within your boundary will still happen. this is what they called ACCIDENT? cursesssssss.

now, i have two choice. treat it positively or negatively. and of course those who knows me well will know the answer. i always take every situation as a positive scenario. why? well, here is the 10 item list, which i got from this event:

1. i am still alive (priceless)

2. the car is still drivable (cool~)

3. is not a new car (luckily)

4. technically learned what to do if accident like this happen again (priceless)

5. found out my body has an alarm clock (sleep 5 hours only) - woke up at 4.30am (priceless)

6. i can think even more rationally when i have taken my rest (priceless)

7. learned that cursing is bad & tired for the body & the mind (priceless)

8. learned that, i can control my anger & my attitude when encounter a situation like this (priceless)

9. i can tell a good story out of this... found a speech for toastmaster's manual (priceless)

10. reaffirm my thoughts that, thinking positively is not only good at creating better human but gives human a chance to be better no matter who you are and be able to live life to it's fullest. (priceless)

woah... so many priceless things... terrific!!!

thank God i am still alive. so my readers, there it goes again... think positively & no matter what!!! is not the end of the world yet. do something good today & for each coming day & i bet you will learn something new, & be grateful for everything that comes to your life. this has reaffirmed my thoughts again that there is a reason for things to happen, & for every situation we encounter we will have two option to learn from, that is to view it positively & with an open heart OR reject it without learning a thing which is costly in all terms. the next results is lied on your hands, it is you who is going to create the next sentence in life, so be glad that you are still alive & still have choices that comes into your life. some of us has to go through life in school which is a good thing because there they learn to write, to count, to draw, to excel, to build up pre-leadership, to make mistake and get spank by the teacher, to make friends with the clever and the not so clever, to run & play like hell, to court girls, to court boys, to learn what is bad and what is good... and the list go on. Interesting life.

BUT, the story doesn't end there...

when we are going to step into the working life, that's where the "interesting' story really begins. do you still remember that when we were young, we always wish that we could become a grown up faster and how we wish we could do all sort stuff that the grown up can do that time and the only thing we, as a kid can do is to stare and eat ice-cream? then when the time has come for our turn to become the grown up, your will look at today's kids and start thinking about the crazy wish you have make when you were young? what a dilemma huh?

well, I think some of you do share the same feeling that I once had before. I am not trying to confuse anyone but I just wanted to inform that your 1st stage in life has already past and you couldn't do much but will remain as an interesting story to tell your children and your grandchildren. if you had this regret feeling, all i can said is don't worry cause you still have the 2nd stage of your life to ratify it, cause this is the stage which could change how the story is going to end in your 3rd stage in life. i always believe there is hope in everything as long as you don't give up in yourself.

school smart, that's the term which everyone is talking about when you were still in school. then come the street smart, when you have stepped into the working life and start living in a rat race life if you are not born that lucky just like me. Don't give up just yet cause luck is just one part of it and you still have time to change that luck if you only believe in it and work for it. street smart is not about how good you are in school only but how good you are in lifting yourself in today society.

you still have time to change the story line if only you give yourself a chance. I don't come from a rich background or from a very famous star so I do know how each one of you feel - fighting for what we want. As at today I am still struggling and some of you might think that who am i to give statement like this when i am still struggling and not yet successful? Well, being success is only a state of mind and everyone has a different definition for the word success itself.

if you have not defined what does the word success means to you by today, I suggest you to do that now cause if you don't, you will remain as dilemma as before or worse. The meaning might change with time but in the end the core values will still remain the same. I suggest you to read on the story of Nick Vujicic if you think I am not a somebody to you, and that's fine with me cause I don't know who are you too unless you walked across my path before. Let me share with you my NOW definition of success before i depart from this life - is to leave a legacy and a name in everyone memory that I have helped them to excel in life should they come across the path I am walking on. Till then, I wish everyone could find that fine definition and start touching the life of everyone. All the Best!

Today is my very 1st yoga class... I did not able to take any picture of me doing it. BUT, this is something I did at the class...according to the pic. Well, at 1st I thought yoga is such a boring exercise cause it's slow and too many action we have to remember but it ends up a different story after I attended the 1st class.

I think I have not been doing much exercise cause whenever I was doing all those stretching, I can actually heard the "cracking" sound of my bones. Grak... Grak... woh... and after all that, I can really feel like totally relaxed and light. I think I will stick around for sometime as exercise in any form normally won't last but I feel that yoga will be the longest should I stop but as far as I concerned... I think I liked it... maybe because of the instructor who is teaching it which make it fun and interesting. Anyway... let's see how things progress then. Try it if you have not done so... who knows you might become one of the fans of yoga.

That you can feel the power that comes out of no where... motivated you and eventually everyone around you to move forward so fast just like a blink of an eye and make those seem to be impossible things before ... become so easy to achieved?

Giving up is an option but don't! No matter what, if you believe you have it in your heart, your mind, and your soul that you can make it happen. You will have no idea when miracle do happens and that power comes into your life to make that dreams of yours come true. Just believe in your heart and set your heart free... that's something I learn or should I said reminded about what we should be doing in life... by some younger generation of my former school. It was a drama and it's funny too but is the lesson that worth and priceless... thanks again Gavelian... and all the best to all of you in your future undertaking.

The phone that I couldn't live without (I think). Well, since everyone is asking me how on earth can I update my status at Facebook every minute? Erm... the answer is not wifi but Digi Unlimited. I must confess, I couldn't live without updating my facebook or twitter account. Ever since I have changed my phone from the Samsung to Nokia E75, the every minute race is on!!! I think I did mention to you all that I have treat this Facebook and twitter thingy as if my live diary, e.g: I will post something like: where I will have my lunch, when I finish the lunch, then where will I go after that. Some of you thinks I'm nuts or too addicted to it... and that's exactly the answer I wanted from you all. Addicted!!!!

The package that I'm using now is no longer offered by Digi - too bad BUT they have replaced it with package RM58... where as mine is package RM66 unlimited. Both the package is quite similar (unlimited) just that, the way how they calculate the bandwidth is different. Ya all can check it out at digi.com.my.

Oh ya, now I only noticed that I have not posted much on October... and those who have followed my facebook (live diary) will know what happen to me... just a quick update from me... I have been busy admitted to Hospital due to back pain then, the national level speech contest from JCI (which I have fail to obtain anything), then ... then ... What else ah? Haiz... just because of one admission to Hospital... I am all sick until to date... 1st fever, then running nose... and now cough... is either I am getting weak or the virus is getting stronger. SO, I have determined to change my lifestyle to a better ... As starting next year January I will be very busy since I will run for president post for JCI Sandakan which require most of my attention and commitment. I will be informing all of ya soon... till then...

In and Out

How times flies... a few weeks ago I was still preparing the speech for my contest in Ipoh, and now I'm already thinking of my board of directors and JCI stuff for next year plan. Don't get the wrong impression that I don't want to do all these. I love doing it but it seem that I have been delaying all these... and now the pressure is on for the line up and planning for next year projects.

Things happen fast when you are too busy to notice those small stuff and eventually, we got sick along the way. Luckily I got friends along the way to tag with me and encourage me to move on. Lately I come across a song called "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus. It's a very good song as it encourage me to move on with life despite what lies ahead of me. It's ain't what's waiting on the other side, is the climb... ah.... nicely put. So...., if you feel down and discourage I highly recommend you to listen to it. I hope it could burn you up...em...maybe for that day perhaps? Anyway, It's worth listen.

It's time for me to start my new blog which has been left untouched for like, a few months. It's going to be my diary and my notes as I run for my next post in JCI. I will keep you all informed once it's up and running. Ciao....

Humorous Speech - Area Level... Draft 1

just a quick one, I know some of you miss me but I don't have photo to show you yet.. soon to come, soon to come. I just finish with today's speech contest and is the humorous contest, I got 1st runner up for that, this is so cool! Not having to get the champion does not only stop me from moving forward yet it further motivates me to strive further to win in the next contest. It was a great experience for me because it teaches me a lot from this contest alone. Anyway, I shall further update you all with the details in the coming post.

as i listen to a Korean song by SS501, title - my girl, & that's how i've started write this post...i have no idea what are they singing but the music do touches me to tick off this post. time now is 12.07am, 20 Sept, 2009 (acting like a toastmasters now). i now officially, called yesterday the non-productive day... of my life, for this year at least. i got no mood to do almost everything. i've tried to fill in the gap which I used to do in the past but it was not the same and the urgency to do things is not there... anymore... why????

is that so hard to depart for just a while? i questioned myself, "am i too used to it or am i just laying an excuse for myself?" beats me... i also have no ideas too.

the day started with a cup of sky juice and facebook as i lay on my bed thinking what i should do after my time with the client. soon after that, i went to become a driver and have lunch with my fellow friends from the jaycees... after that is home and some nagging from mum over the cooking of rice. then washing of plates and has been facebook~ing since then until now. i think today will be the worse day of this year... confirmed...

the paperwork is waiting there for me, the manuals are laying on the table for me to write on, stuff are all over the table waiting for me to pick up and clean, one speech is waiting for me to do a rehearsal with, another speech is waiting with a pen and a piece of white paper for me to start my 1st sentence... ~_^""

As some of you know, I have participated in the Humorous and Evaluation Speech Contest on the 10 Sept 2009. It was an unexpected results... I was telling my friend that I would be satisfied if I could land on the 2nd runner up since I am competing with some of the club's TOP!

It is an honour to test my skills with the champion. I was like walking on cloud 9 when my name was announced the champ for humorous...and what even more surprising is I got 1st runner up for evaluation???? It is totally not on my plan... God must be watching over me... Thank you God. I guess I must do my best so I don't fail the club again this time, as I fail to obtain one in my last contest in the Area level.

I must work harder this time as the last champion is here again... God, I put all my faith in you and I shall do my best and the rest I shall leave it to you... Amen.

Making a date with someone can be lots of fun and it can turn out be a nightmare too~ Making a wise choice on choosing what type of people you plan to hang out with can be really tricky sometimes. Especially the ladies out there... Hey, Don't get me wrong as if not to trust or not dating at all. What I mean is to choose them wisely or you might have a bad day as if you just had a bad hair day.

Anyway, pertaining to this post... I would like to date you this coming Thursday (10 Sept 2009) @ 7:30pm at The Mark's Lodge Function Room for an enjoyable evening listening to humorous speech from some great speaker from Sandakan Toastmasters Club. I couldn't tell a good joke, how am I going to tell a good humorous speech? oh boy~ just look at those two businessman laugh.... Ha! Ha! Ha! JCI Project: Cashflow 101, 2009

Yahooooo!!!!... JCI Project: Cashflow 101 has finally come to an end for this year. It's an awesome project. Feel so happy with the outcome. Students and teachers are looking forward to it next year. Can't wait for 2009 to end and bring this project to an even greater height next year. Even, I might not be the project OC (organizing chairman) again but I could join in as a banker or a trainer for this event... Just want to bring it in again... and see those smiles again. Not forgetting to all my JCI members... thank you for the time and effort in making this happen! You guys are the best!

Yo...my former school! Sung Siew you guys are the best! I see a lot of laughter going on and lots of question till our bankers need to drink a few bottles of water to answer those question. Those are good questions...keep it up! Looking forward to meet you guys soon. This is the last destination for school on 8 Aug 2009. They started at 1pm exact.

Tiong Hua Secondary School, this is the only school we went to on Sunday afternoon which starts at 1.30pm on the 9 Aug 2009. Our members are very supportive even its Sunday. All thank to the students too for coming and making it happen. Congratulate to them for being the champ for this year...

Woah... all of them so scare when I started the explanation... all listen as if I am a teacher... I feel so tense actually looking at them so serious... no wonder they got the champ...hahaha. Good for ya!

Anyway, I hope the future OC will make it bigger next time as all the students is anticipating it. I wish everyone good health and all students can arrange a come back and take the title from the champ! hahahaa....Tiong Hua, you need extra work to maintain your position. Anyway, its a good strategy I learned something from there too. Thank God for your guidance and may this project can be taken to the next level at a bigger scale by the next OC. I pray for the next OC to be in good shape as well to handle this project next year. All the best to everyone.

Young at Heart?

Well, Tonight I have no intention to blog actually but after having a chat with a girl awhile ago... is a student actually from my former school. She said something about young at heart and she recommended me to blog about it... I read her blog and it was quite interesting. I read and I read and I read until I realized students nowadays really good in expressing themselves... especially girls which is a norm even from our forefather days. The blog is about her day to day life and what is happening out there. I won't mention her name here as I have no idea how she evaluate the privacy level... in her context. Different people have different points of view. I just want to protect her privacy that's all until she read this and she tell me its okay to do that... or else... there is no way I am going to mention her name here. Not like me... I like to share the info.

So, why "young at heart", this topic come into place when she mention about my age and hers. We have a BIG gap like 10 years in age? and we actually speak as if we are in the same school... same batch some more. I don't know about her but I do feel like going back to school when I chat with her. As I browse through her facebook, I also saw a lot of pictures and stuff they do...just like what I did during my days in school. It really bring back a lot of memories... I am so regret why I did not take lots of pictures when I was at their age... luckily I am still young...still have time to replace the missing link. Pre Heat Cashflow 101

One word can describe how happy I am ~ Awesome! I had a great time teaching the students in Sandakan playing with Cashflow 101. I am so glad that they learned something out of it. I think the credit goes back to Robert Kiyosaki and his team for making this game available to the public.

If not for him, I won't have this great feeling. Not forgetting my team and my mentor for making this event so successful. As the OC (organizing chairman) for this event... what is the most worries matter in any event is man power and lack of planning.... I have ALL full support from them and from the schools too. Thank you.

What make this day an even great day for me is that I've come across a student who played in the game via the Internet and she has blogged about it... she said something like that:

I know is small... but I am not sure if the owner would like to tell the world about her blog... and you know what? Her Blog had actually make my day ~ a great day! I can't actually express how it feels but is a very great feeling..is like you have just become a dad. I am now looking forward to the final which falls on 15 Aug 2009.

Respond I got from school was real good. Not just because of physically supporting on the venue and being there but also the moral support from all the schools and they are actually looking forward of working with us in the future and planing to host a workshop with their students.

Awesome respond from the schools especially my former secondary school. No wonder they are still one the best school in town. Am so proud of it. Well, is here... is here... The project that I have been longing to get it done... the day is finally getting nearer... and nearer... JCI will be hosting this project and I am the chairperson. Lots of stuff to be done in a short time yet its so exciting. I can actually bring this game to Sandakan Town.

I still remember a few years when I get this game to town... no one knows how it was played and not much people interested in it until I started publicising it at Facebook... messages, emails and comments started to come in like crazy. Glad all the effort I made so far is working towards me. Thank you God for the power and help granted for me. All this could not have happen if not for him.

More info will be out soon after the whole event ended. The project will start to commence on 8th, 9th and end on 15th Aug 2009. I pray that everything will be going according to God's will and may he guide everyone of us to make things happen. Amen.

The Lost Children

That's the title that was sing by MJ in the Invincible album. I don't know why but lately I was so touched with his song especially those humanity related. I was like imagining what is MJ thinking while he is singing this song to all the lost children. oh.. before that...

I buy two of his album from KK speedy store at the price of RM29.90 per album, 1 is the invincible and another 1 is the dangerous. Apart from that I also got myself his dangerous tour. What caught my attention and in the end got his album was that his attention grabber at the start of the concert and how he ended his concert by flying on a "back pack jet suit" - I think that's how it is being called. Correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, two more day I will be on stage not singing but giving a speech for the event that I chair - that's the Toastmasters Installation for my club. Shall take lots of picture and get you guys updated on it.

I think I have not mention what is this event oh... well, this event is suppose to go around Sabah every year, and this year Sandakan was lucky to have it and I was there...or else I have not learnt so much about the current issue. I don't think I need to explain what is this event oh... The picture is already a self explanatory thing.

I have no idea what is this dish call....but the main thing...the bread sure looks tasty... my mouth is all watery just by looking at it now...

I can only recall so much on the 1st time when I was expose to his song was when I'm in my primary days while attending the school assembly, a group of "so called elite" student sing out the song called "Heal the world" and from then on, I have totally fall in love with MJ.

My 1st Speech!

Finally, after all these years... my 1st speech (actually my 1st recorded speech) is being recorded and upload in YouTube! To be frank with you all, I actually have not seen myself giving speech on stage and this is my 1st experience of doing so. I know some of you had seen me giving speech for more than 10 times on stage but that's you. I don't know how it feels for you but I got goose bump all over me when I heard my own speech and seeing myself stepping on stage for the 1st time.

Have you guys realised how short my posting is like these days? I'm not actually writing much or any long LONG post cause been busy catching up with new company (new job) stuff, I will talk more more on the job in the future, then I just came back from one of JCI convention held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, then come two BIG project the Toastmasters Installation, as I am the chairperson, then the cash flow project for schools in Aug. Am I sounding like repeating my previous post? I think I do... Actually I am not lacking of ideas to write but just that I can't think straight these days. Too busy I guess, Too much to think about.

I know I have not been posting pictures these days too, I try to make it all up soon once I have done with the projects in hand or IF I could slot in the time available on it. OK, coming back to our post, do you notice that all my post looks like twitter or facebook status message? Well, I think I am addicted to short messages and in the mist of into it. I'm not sure if I have signed up for a twitter account yet ...but most of you will notice that I pay more attention to facebook lately as I am updating the fans facebook for JCI Sandakan which was just launched recently by one of my VP - Vice President. She likes to stay low profile so, I would not mention name at the moment and in fact I am actually chatting with her now on MSN.

Oh well, I hope this post is long enough...and is not a purpose of trying to type more to make it longer but I wanted to clarify things or misunderstand might appear. I am now in the mist of thinking of changing the outlook of my blog too but not that soon (actually looking out for a good free, nice looking template). For your info, I am now trying to manage a few blogs which I have no idea how am I going do it but is my passion, and passion I believe can conquer them all. 1st is my own Toastmasters blog which I have left it idle for a while now and I think is time to pick it up soon... one thing at a time. Once is all up and running I will move on to the next blog. Today (1 July '09), I read an article from the Star newspaper where they got this section on blogging. Is very interesting and I think it could help kick start those who wanted to start their own blogging. No harm trying if you think blogging is one of the way to express your feeling. In fact, this is actually my initial intention of writing a blog and now I end up talking more on stage expressing. I just got back from a 2 week training at KK for my new company and life has been quite interesting... like I won the area Sabah speech competition for JCI and because of that, I got the chance to represent Sabah for the national level. Then come the two BIG projects in hand...one from TM Installation and JCI cashflow 101 project. This year is such an active year for me...next year will be even more... anticipating it... Hi guys, I will be NOT posting any blog for two weeks I guess cause I will be away for company training in Kota Kinabalu (KK) from 15 June till 27 June I will be flying back from there. As you all know, I will be working for a new company called Orix Credit (M) Sdn. Bhd. which is based in Sandakan. During the time I'm in KK I will be attending the ASC (Area Sabah Convention) for training and speech contest representing Sandakan. So, wish me luck I hope I can gain some position for Sandakan if not champion ...what about 1st runner up? Well, Win or No Win is another matter but the purpose I am there is to revive Sandakan back to it old times. Well, got to go now. I shall bring good news back.

Whole week I had been busy preparing speeches and preparing the ground work for JCI Sandakan project. Finally some results! Well, I just came back from a celebration for the election of new term exco for Sandakan Toastmasters Club and this year I was elected for the VPPR post which is the Vice President of Public Relationship which will be dealing with all outside activities.

Last night too I was able to finish one speech and one more to go for the JCI speech which I will need to do a pre presentation this Sunday to my BOD so that I can know where I can improve myself for this coming ASC (Area Sabah Convention) at KK. Anyway, I would like to announce that one of my new post is all up and running at tmshaneho.blogspot.com dedicated just for my journey as a Toastmasters. I hope this newly improved site would act real good by giving me a slap on my face if I tend to go lazy anytime as I walk on this journey - simply put it... a report card for my Toastmasters journey.

As the title implies, there will be something happening in 3 more days and one of it is that I will be having my last day with my current company and will be shifting over to another industry starting on 15th June 2009. There is also the AGM for TM coming up the same day, I will or might be taking up a post with the club... but let's keep this news as it is until it was confirmed. Furthermore, I will be having lot's of stuff coming up for this whole week. Let's pray that I could cope up with all the coming... Yes, making a decision is not easy especially it touches life or dead. BUT not making the stand is even more difficult as it may. Everyday we are to face decision making from the time we wake up until we doze off to sleep. Today, I come to a cross road. Should I make the stand and choose what is the dream life I wanted to take on or should I do what the masses do? Is not an easy decision when it comes to doing the extraordinary. Oh, God please give me the wisdom and show me the proper way to get over all this haunted stories. I am hopeless and clueless on what I should do next. Amen.

I have been so busy running up and down, why? The reason is:

1. Change of job and will land on new company on 15 June 2009
2. Certified as JCI trainer on 24th May 2009 after a 3 day course
3. Planning on my financial literacy workshop this coming Aug 2009
4. Preparing for my speech for this coming ASC in Kota Kinabalu
5. Prepare a new blog specifically for each JCI & TM
6. Prepare for a post at TM this coming June 2009
7. Prepare for Presidency JCI 2010
8. Can't think of it yet...but its coming...

Till then is back to my training path planning. I shall keep you guys inform of my new blog soon. Stay Tune!

Facing the Giant

Anyone watched the movie I mentioned? - Facing The Giant is a movie that send out alot of message about life, family values, team building, and of course God himself. "Shane, Why all these? Something wrong?" I know those who don't know what I had been thru tonight might ask the same question. Well, I just come back from a seminar talk about marriage enrichment for family and couples by my favourite Pastor, he is Rev. Clement. I really miss him alot...and I mean ALOT! I nearly cried instead I hug him and keep that feeling within me. I think that's what guys do best? BUT, I was able to get his email and talk it thru from there in the future.

By the way, I just realised I haven't been posting a lot recently because I was busy preparing the proposal for my up coming project which is about cash flow 101, more on that in the future. Some more update is that I will be changing company starting on 15 June 2009. This is the day that marks my four years experience as an Insurance guy and a new start as a financier. The day I start my new job is also the same date I start my 1st job with this current insurance company. I really bless that God has been working thru me this year. I see a lot of miracle and hopes coming in endlessly. Yes, ups and downs do come from time to time but God is always there for me. No matter what happen we should praise God, I learn this from Facing the Giant. I got a call from the post I interviewed for today and I guess it was good news? Cause they asked me when I could commence work and there is a mixture of feelings to go or not to go. The reason I have this feeling is because I have to pursue on an area which I am not familiar with and is totally a new thing for me but this is what the type of work I have been asking for ever since I am a graduate. Guess is time to move on? Anyway, Wish for the best and make it happen! Hm.... =) Come to think of it for a while, What happen so far this year is all fit with this year theme... "make it happen" any reason for it? God knows... This is like playing a chess, making ways to the unknown but had to win the battle.

Till then I shall see what happen next as this is the beginning of the next quarter of the year.... All the best everyone... This year is certainly a year of makin' things happen.

I am now not in a state of mind to write anything mature or I should say not in a well manner. I know I should not have write this post but my heart felt like doing so and that is why I call this the wilderness. A few days ago I was sick with flu and once it was cure another sickness come... is cough. It has been bugging me for two days now. I hate it when I got sick, yea I know... who likes to get sick? Beats me who does...

As I gone thru the days with this flu, I was able to take a rest and take my mind off the daily routine at work. I spend like 2 whole day at home without leaving home. What I do at home you asked? Well, I spend time to clean up my 6 months rubbish on my desk and whole pile of letters on the tray. Bills, Bills, Bills, and Bills, that's what. Right after the cleaning ...

I began to seat down and sweat. I open up my lap top and start composing "the speech of the year" - why speech of the year? The reason is simple. This is the 1st time I take up the courage to stand on stage outside of Toastmasters to speak on behalf of JCI Sandakan. I heard that our chapter has not been sending any participant in for the contest ... like many many years ago..is like decades ago. Win or lose is another matter for me. The reason I choose to do this is because I wanted the whole Sabah to know who is this Shane Ho and why is he here. I know I sound like so bossy or whatever you wanted to put it but this is how I felt.

As I write, my mind is wondering here and there thinking about my future in both the NGOs and my future career. Is not easy to spend time on these matters while keeping track with my own life - what I mean by my own life is that, my family, my home, my girlfriend, all these is so important to me. Talking about NGOs. At this very moment, I think I will stop climbing the ladder once I reach president for JC and start building my route as a trainer for my chapter especially. I don't know why but I felt that they needed somebody to help push the chapter further from behind and not me who should be going all the way up.

While for Toastmasters route is a different story altogether, maybe the culture or the backbone behind this organization? Beats me but I felt that I could move further from there, as Sandakan Toastmasters Club has a strong foundation compare to JCI Sandakan. Like I said the culture and the people is different. One has lots of support and guidance while the other has to rely on trial and error method. BUT I am not blaming anyone here. All I wanted to point out is that difference in culture create different opportunity for their members to grow.

Just because TM has a fine foundation doesn't mean I am in a good state it only mean I can start off smoothly and less challenges holding me back. While in JC, the foundation is not that strong but it create an opportunity for me to shine and make a difference out of it. I felt like God is giving me a good foundation to walk on... why do I said that? Well, I can compare the two NGOs and apply whatever I learn from these two to build myself better for this NGOs and myself. Seeing things in a positive way is my way of life. That's why sometimes I don't see the reason behind why people will think about negativity ONLY and hope for the best? Make no sense... to me at least. Do they make sense to you?

Well, I think I will shut up for now... my chest is hurting due to the coughing. Take care guys..

A Trip to Convention - Day 1

This is the my 1st time to Kuching, Sarawak. Being a 1st timer I tend to capture some odd pictures a LOT of it as if this is the 1st time I had a camera. (although this is only my Mobile's cam) The reason I come because, I am attending a convention as a Toastmasters representing my club & to gain some insight what is it like to see the PRO doing their speeches on stage! Well, Pictures can tell a LOT more compare to my words alone.

A few more hours I will be flying off to Kuching for my 1st experience as a new toastmaster in town. I had a mixture of feelings... should I go there to relax and learn or should I react to what opportunity lies there? I can't seem to have the two of it... I found it so funny as this is the 1st time I had such feeling after attended a few convention in the past? What is it this feeling means? Can someone tell me why? How? What? Argh~! Help Me!

Last night I had a clubbing session with Area Sabah Team from Junior Chamber (JC). That session was good deduct the drinking excessive part... but is all fun. I learned that the path in JC is so huge and after being a member for 4 years...it seem that I am still standing on the same stair, is time to move on to the next level. Clock is ticking fast when you have so many plan to be implement, isn't it?

I learned that no matter where you start at in JC, as long as the heart and the blood of JC flows within you - People will respect you and see you as a person with charisma. I am not here to say that you GOT to have the heart and blood to get going but as long as you have the key to the path you choose to walk, the fruit will be great behind those doors you choose to walk on. Till then, pick the right group of friends where they are there to encourage you and to support you, you are good to go. All the best to whatever route you choose to walk.

I was awarded the competent communicator (CC) pin at Mark's Lodge function function room for finishing the 1st manual of 10 speeches and now, I am going to pursue my next step in starting my ACB level which is Advance Communicator Bronze.

The Community of Hope

Recently, a friend & I started a community called Sandakan using facebook. At 1st we were playing around with the application until the idea of improving Sandakan struck into our idea list. How do we get that idea? (some of you might asked) Well, the story goes like this:- During our days as a student - to be exact form 6, we used to hang around together and talk about the economy and other Malaysia's related topics that were published on the newspaper. I think is in our blood that we want something better for Sandakan.

Like all student, we used to complain a lot about what Sandakan don't have and how Sandakan is being left out. However, once we step into the ideal world of corporate ladder and all those rushing moment... we tend to think about how to building or how to get a better life and not to work for somebody. That's when the idea of having community comes... some of the inspiration also come from our close partner Cindy, who is our director of communication. Way to go Cindy!

Well, I think that's all about our group. That's basically our idea where we use this community to get Sandakanites to contribute and we will act like an engine to send the message across to the leaders of Sandakan e.g; improving the city and so on. Below is the screen of the group, if you are a Sandakan and still not in this group, I urge you to help us to contribute back to the community because Sandakan is IN your blood. How? you asked? Well, is easy... join facebook and the group. That's it! Still don't know how after you're in Facebook? Add me, ring me and I will take you there. I wish and I hope this community will be loud enough that the leaders of Sandakan could take notice of us and start implementing what Sandakan community needs.

Hi there, 2 weeks has gone. I have NOT written a single post. What happen? I was busy with changing Job and progressing about the previous post mentioned events. It's kinda like I am running a busy like hell. Running here and there... Health is one of the factor that we must be looking into when times like this come into our life, I mean, even more curial to take care of it. Why suddenly with the health topic? cause I got sick, I catch a flu or a cold... I don't even know what I got. BUT after popping in a few multi vitamin is all good to go. All thanks to USANA! USANA Rocks!

Well, just to inform you guys that I got my CC Pin from Toastmasters. You don't have to be a Toastmasters to know what it means by CC pin. It's a pin to recognize our effort for finishing the 1st manual speech all in is 10 speeches. That means I have completed 10 speeches all in to enable me to obtain the pin. I even I got a few more pins from there but I will save it for the later post cause I got those pic with me yet to be transfer to the PC. My next level in Toastmasters would be the ACB level, I wish to obtain my ACB (ACB stands for Advance Communicator Bronze) within the same length of time I did for my CC but let's see how is the manual would look like 1st and also to obtain my CL by the time I am done running my VPPR post (VPPR stands for Vice President for Public Relation). Till then.. Shall update you more on this in a few days or so, I promise that.

The TIME has come?

Hi everyone, is been like a week since my last post. The reason for the not often post is due to my workload and my activities at hand. All this come at a NO planing at all. The reason I said this is because I have take up the challenge to go for VPPR for toastmaster in the coming term, oh... VPPR stands for Vice President for Public Relation and I got a BIG programme coming up and that is the Installation which falls on the month of July 2009. Details will be in soon, patient- patient.

Next up is the JC part. I have take up some more challenges like taking up the trainer course (to become a certified trainer, esp. for my chapter) then the ... I save it for my future post, is not time to disclose yet. BUT, I can give you a ~~glue~~ clue. I plan to go for NEVP post (those who knows what is happening please be silent).

Well, just to inform everyone that I will be starting my hectic life really soon once I go into the month of April. The general line up is as below:-

1. April - Toastmaster Convention in Kuching, Sarawak
2. May - JC Presenter & JC Trainer, to Tambunan (harvest period)
3. June - JC ASC (Area Sabah Convention) at KK, Sabah
4. Oct - JC ANC (TBA)

I think that's all for the BIG project, as for another project which is also my passion is to host the cash flow 101 game with students in Sandakan. I just got appointed as chairman for this project and I plan to make it BIG. My personal mission for this year is to promote my name and myself aggressively, for now branding is a very important matter for me should I go for a higher level in the society.

However, I just want you all to bear in mind that, no matter what I did will not be a great success should I ignore the most important person in my live and he is my God, for he is the one who created me and mould me to what I am today. All credits go back to him for I am only his children. Anything good comes from me is thru him. Thank you for all the blessing and grace you put on me. I shall shine in your light. After 4 years being a member for an International Society called the Junior Chamber International, I have given a chance to hold a worth memorable event. (although I have held a few during my term as a member) but this event will be the ONE that will always stay on my mind forever. So you asked what so special about it? I had the chance to hold a dialogue session with the founder of JCI Sandakan Chapter. Not everyone has the chance to do you know? (haha... self proclaim). The founder is JCI Senator Datuk Khoo Thaw Choon. I truly respect his effort of starting a chapter in Sandakan. Being the 1st is not an easy task and I learn a lot from him and how to see things from a BIGGER & different perspective. He not only taught our generation about building the chapter and improve it but he also share with us his vision, thoughts and taught us (make us realise) how to set a vision and live up the name as a Jaycees. I have to say this, Datuk Khoo, I have to salute you! You are the man!

Nick Vujicic & My Stuff

Awe! That's the feeling I had couple of days ago. Why? Because I got this package from Nick Vujicic's website which I purchased thru the Internet from his "Attitude is Altitude". Once I got it, the 1st thing I do is to try on the shirt and listen to his DVD - No Hands, No Legs, No worries! This is an awesome DVD. Everyone should get it and I can bet it can touch your heart even a heart that made of stone.

To be frank, I cried a few times cause I really can't imagine a guy like him, same age as mine but can achieve so much under such circumstances. I'm speechless and there is no more excuse for anyone to say they can't. His favourite word - Never Give Up will stays on my mind. Nick, Thank you so much! You have created so much impact on my life.

So, Guys! What are you waiting for? Go get it! Is worth the money. I can say that this stuff worth a few more thousand or maybe millions instead of just USD$50. A.I.D.S - Who got it?

No one, at least the people I know. They are all healthy!

AIDS, how many of you would actually touch on this topic in your daily life and get to know more about it? Not much I believe. A few days ago I was browsing thru my friend's office and I found a leaflet lying on the table - is about Boys Brigade working together with the ministry of health to make the public informed about this AIDS thing.

REACH OUT is the program run by BB aka boy's brigade together with MOH aka ministry of health. WHY I choose to talk about this ...for your info this program has ended I think but the message is not and should not end there just yet. This program should be carried out through out the year as AIDS is not a seasonal deadly disease. Is everywhere and every time. So, I highly suggest that they should carry on with it... I know it costly so, if possible try to make it a yearly event. If we talk about cost ...think about the cost of curing and the emotional cost too... what would make the society a healthier place for everyone to live in?

The reason behind this post too is that I would like to share with you what the leaflet did to me. I was actually emotionally touched by one of the stories printed on it. I will you the story (part of it) in just a minute. Is about the dead of a mother leaving behind 3 children and how they were being "cared" after the dismissed of their mother. I tell you is a terrible experience especially for for children to go thru that at a very young age. Alright, story cut short, should you like to know more about that story ...go get that leaflet and read all about it.

A few days ago, I just finished attending the toastmaster contest and you know what? I got a participant certificate for it... Yea you got it right. I did not make it but I am happy with the results. I am so glad I have participated in the contest, learned so much from it... from other contestants to about myself. I learned that I need to improve my nervousness and how to calm down when given a topic and make good sentence from that situation. I think not everyone can actually made a proper and meaningful sentence in that allocated time given ... some more, you are on stage and everyone is looking at you waiting anxiously for you to start your 1st word after being read out the topic twice. What is actually happening on your mind if you are there?

Beats me... only you know...

Excitement! Yea... That's the only word appearing in my mind nowadays. I hope it won't stay there for too long as it will do me no good when I am in the contest, the table topic contest - At that moment, I should be grabbing points and examples to help me do my best in it! Well, like in any contest; I will pray to God and surrender all my thoughts unto him. No matter what the outcome should be I believe there is a reason behind it. Hmm... I know some of you might start to think that I seem like putting the blame to God. Well, Let me be frank with you guys. I AM NOT! I just want to clear things out that my faith to God is there and it will be always there.

Like Nick Vujicic said, the reason that something happen in our life no matter is for good or for bad - God is preparing us for something in the future because HE knows all things about us. However, I hope none of you would take this statement from Nick as if you don't have to do anything and the goodies will fall from the sky. I DID NOT said that too. It is just matter of putting the faith in God in everything you do and do it with all your might. With all that, I wish everyone who will be participating in the contest to be given the right wisdom and health to do their best in it!

Yesterday was Valentine's day and today is Cash flow day!... Haha.. just kidding. Well, to be frank to all of you. Out of so many games I coached so far; today is the best! Why? This is because all are grown ups and I learn much more than my previous experience which I only played with players of my age. Hey, This does not mean my previous experience is not good or the players I played with before is not well educated or whatever you want to put it. Just that I have a brand new experience and this has given me more ideas at looking at life. Haha... Funny huh? Maybe players does not realised that but this is how I felt. The game is not just a game but a life changing game for me. As the creator of the game mentioned over and over again, the more we play with it, the more we get richer - and for that it means changing my mindset and it could mean other stuff for another coach. This is only my personal experience. Below is a few snap I got from the game. Till then...

How forgetful of me. Valentine's Day is around the corner and I have totally missed it out from my to do list. You know why I said that? Last Sunday my girlfriend asked me where should we go celebrate this coming Saturday and you know what I said? You guessed it right, celebrate what? and...Guys you know what's next huh? You are asking for trouble... Luckily this is the 1st time I have forgotten this event and you know what my excuse was? I have totally packed myself with all those activities that I wanted to do before I leave for Sandakan. I must admit I have gotten overboard with it and left her out from all those actions. I am so sorry my dear. I will make it up to you this coming Saturday.

Feb 14, is the day. However, I hope we should be reminded that we should not only do the things we should be doing on this day but carry on after that. Being together as a couple is not about celebrating it on Valentine's Day only - Feb 14, is just a reminder for everyone that is time to slow down with what we do everyday and spend more time with our loved ones. I am not sure about you but I cherish everyday I have with her as IF this is the last day of my life because we don't know what we could or might happen to us tomorrow. Be thankful for what we had and move on from there. May God be with all the couples and not forgetting those still singles that they could get somebody special on that day too. Till then Happy Valentine's Day...

Let me explain la... I am one of the coach here mah.... so, this game is actually created by Mr. Robert Kiyosaki, who is the author for Rich dad, Poor Dad. So, recently one of the proposal tabled by one of the member at JCI Sandakan had been accepted and is planing to conduct a session on that soon to help the community here to understand more on what is financial literacy all about. I heard that he is JC Shane Ho. He is a freak on this.

Oh.. It works. The reason behind the game created was to teach everyone how to manage their finance more intelligently cause the game teach the players about financial management and how to take calculated risk. So, It actually works in every part of the world.

The 4 Stages of Life

Does the pic above make any senses to you about life? I know I do. Every time I saw this picture, a lot of stuff come into play...of course on my mind. This picture actually come in a form of a forward message and it so happen that it talks about different stage in life and it seem like a pre-plan journey for everyone...what do you think? Hey guys, I am not going to do any preaching about gospel ok? Just that, I happen to have a chat with a friend of mine in UK and topics like life and marriage comes into our conversation and it seem that this pic has leg of it's own - come dashing into my mind. That's why I posted the pic for your viewing pleasure and to give you some insight of what life is actually about IF you happen to have no idea of it at all.

What's next? Today I come across this article about financial planing and this table explains the general financial goals by different age category. Which category are you in now? No matter which area or category you fall into...does that table make any sense to you...if so, were you doing those stuff listed in it? If this is the guide to life...I would say I am going no where with that. But does that still apply to today world? Crack your head and think about that. If this is really the stuff suppose to be carried out in every stages of life then I think I only able to do 3 out of 7 as of to date...which is not impressive at all If we use this mark in the school grading system I think I had totally failed in this subject. So, I asked myself does this guide can be used as a guide or a general overview about financial management in every stage of life? I leave that Q for you to ans. Well, I think no matter what route you choose to take, all it matters is does that route makes you happy and life worth something to you? If no, then you are on the wrong route; its time for a change. BUT if you liked the way things are..please carry on with it... life should be worth living with those happy stuff around but of course without those unhappy stuff we wouldn't appreciate those happy stuff. So, No matter what stages of life are you in I wish everyone in good health and Wealth. May you are blessed with all those wonderful things in life!

Day 7th... CNY cum gathering?

Is that day again! Is the 7th day of CNY! Everyone (in Chinese term) is having a birthday today. Translation please... ehem.. Yan Yat (in Cantonese) or simply put it "people day"... I hope you know what the heck am I saying cause I have no idea how to express it to you in words. Anyway, you saw the plate over there? Is a dish called "Low Sang"! It consist of several food in it and one of it is raw fish. To my understanding, the dish has a story behind it but I don't have the whole version of it, all I got is that I heard there were two poor guys who have no food to celebrate CNY and they then had to eat raw fish to supplement it with other food gathered from the forest. Oh well, anyone care to elaborate more on it?

Being said that this dish is special for this day, my family and I did not really celebrate this day and seeing everyone toasting the food up and down makes me missed the days when I was doing that when I was studying in my University days.

Reunion comes...

Having said that, this year is quite a unique year as I had 3 reunion and 1 going to be held soon reunion which might fall in July. The 1st reunion was my pre-uni days gathering held at QQ ice, mile 4 on 23rd Jan 2008 which only 11 turn up. The 2nd gathering which held on 2nd day of CNY (27th Jan 2009) is the high school gathering (form 5) at English Tea house, kinda grand compare to the other two - we had a somewhat like a cocktail reunion with RM30 per pax serving fruit punch I guess and some finger food - the gathering, I would say that this gathering is quite a successful one cause around 70 plus people attended it with our ex-school teachers, we also took some nice pic too - should you like to take a view on it please view tru my facebook. Ok, now the 3rd gathering which is quite ...hm.... I would say is like having a "woah" feeling. Seeing my primary friends after 16 plus years. All gone "huge" not all but mostly...once I got the chance to show you the pic you will understand what I mean.

NEXT, the going to held gathering is my pre-school days. Can you imagine having reunion for pre-school? oh man.... what a day! I was an Ex-SBC student, SBC stands for Sandakan Baptist Church. My "junior" oh...she is Cheong Sing Yee, a very active member of SBC has been chosen by God which was delegated by our pastor to hold a gathering of the 25th year which is also the 1st time hold in Church. and so, I would like to call all Ex-SBC student please show your face we need your help in holding this gathering a successful one. We will be having it at our beloved church where we will able to see our classmate? This will be a huge gathering as we will be inviting all the 25th year graduated student to come back and have a reunion at our 1st school as a student. Come join in the fun! More info on the gathering in the future, as for now we need committee and the gathering is pre planned on July 2009!

I shall update you guys on the pic and other related stuff once I get my hands on other's camera. Let's call this a day. Tomorrow is Monday and let's get our butt to work!

Hi All! The bull is here and is ready for the economic crisis? Is he coming on the right time or he cut queue and landed on 2009? Hmm... I think the bear should be the one coming replacing the bull due to these crisis. Anyhow, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my current readers, future readers, and past readers a very very moo moo year! As many future predictor proclaim, the year 2009 will be the year full of challenges and is also the economic will face another round of down turn. Let's pray hard that the bull will do something about it and protect everyone e.g; young and old, from these crisis.
